Hello, I’m Junior, the youngest member of the kyun-s family.
This time, I went on a special trip with Jonggu Tube. As Jonggu Tube subscribers are familiar with, the trip to Pakse and Champasak, Laos, with a pleasant and curious Jonggu Tube,
It was truly an unforgettable time. On this trip, for Jonggutube, who stayed at my homestay, I guided Jonggu tube with my dad, who is a local guide in Laos, and explored various attractions, and I will tell you the story of his vivid review.
1. The beginning of the journey: heading to Pakse
Pakse is the central city in southern Laos, and it is located close to the border between Thailand and Cambodia, so you can feel the cultures of many countries.
The flight time was relatively short, about 1 hour and 20 minutes, so it was enough to take a break during the trip. When the Jonggu Tube arrived at Pakse Airport, we started our trip to southern Laos in earnest.
Since we had booked a homestay, we were greeted by an airport pick-up, packed our luggage, and went straight to Wat Phu Temple, one of the most famous attractions in Pakse.

정말 잊지 못할 시간이었습니다. 특히 이번 여행에서는 저희 집에 홈스테이를 하신 종구튜브를 위해, 라오스 현지 가이드에 나선 아빠와 함께 종구튜브를 안내하며 다양한 명소를 탐방했는데요, 그 생생한 리뷰 이야기를 여러분께 들려드리겠습니다.
1. 여행의 시작 : 팍세로 향하다
팍세는 라오스 남부의 중심 도시로, 태국과 캄보디아 국경에 가까운 위치에 있어 여러 나라의 문화를 느낄 수 있는 곳입니다. 종구 아저씨와 아주머니는 비엔티안에서 라오스국내선을 이용해 팍세에 도착했습니다.
비행 시간은 약 1시간 20분으로 비교적 짧은 편이라 이동 중에는, 잠시 휴식을 취할 수 있는 정도였다고 합니다. 그렇게 종구튜브가 팍세 공항에 도착하면서부터, 우리는 본격 라오스 남부여행을 시작하게 되었는데,
홈스테이 예약이 되어 있었기에, 공항 마중 픽업으로 첫인사를 나누게 되었으며, 간단히 짐을 정리한 뒤, 여행일정을 위해 곧바로 팍세에서 가장 유명한 명소의 하나인 왓 푸(Wat Phu) 사원으로 이동을 했습니다.
2. Wat Phu Temple: The Legacy of the Khmer Empire
Wat Phu is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Laos, a thousand-year-old ancient temple with traces of the Khmer Empire.
As soon as he arrived at the temple, he said, “This is the charm of Laos!” I was also happy with such a reaction. Walking inside the temple, we were able to reflect on the history of this place.
Wat Phu was built around the 11th century and is said to have been built to worship the Hindu god Shiva at the time. It was later repurposed as a Buddhist temple, but traces of Hinduism can be found everywhere.
Jonggu tube was fascinated by the exotic statues and delicate architectural styles, and he was busy shooting with his camera.
2. 왓 푸 사원 : 크메르 제국의 유산
왓푸는 라오스의 유네스코 세계문화유산으로, 크메르 제국의 흔적이 남아 있는 천년 고대 사원입니다. 산 중턱에 위치한 이 사원은 신비로운 분위기와 함께 아름다운 자연 경관을 자랑합니다.
종구튜브는 사원에 도착하자마자 “이게 바로 라오스의 매력이구나!”라며 감탄했는데요, 그런 반응에 저도 기분이 좋았습니다. 사원 내부를 걸으며 우리는 이곳의 역사를 되새길 수 있었는데,
왓푸는 약 11세기경에 건설되었으며, 당시 힌두교의 신 시바를 숭배하기 위해 만들어졌다고 합니다. 나중에 불교 사원으로 용도가 바뀌었지만, 곳곳에서 힌두교의 흔적을 발견할 수 있었습니다.
종구튜브는 이국적인 조각상과 섬세한 건축 양식에 매료되어 연신 카메라 촬영에 바쁘기만 했습니다.
3. Bolaven Plateau : Into the Embrace of Nature
The next stop was the Bolaven Plateau, located on the outskirts of Pakse, one of the largest coffee producing regions in Laos, with beautiful waterfalls and large coffee plantations.
Todd Pang is a 120-meter-high twin waterfall where you can see two streams of water cascading down into a huge gorge.
After admiring two more waterfalls, we visited a nearby coffee plantation.
Jonggu tube and we drank a cup of fresh coffee and enjoyed the scenery. Of course, I ate ice cream, but I will never forget the taste of this coffee!” Seeing Jonggu Tube admiring him, I was proud too.
3. 볼라벤 고원 : 자연의 품속으로
다음으로 방문한 곳은 팍세 근교에 위치한 볼라벤 고원(Bolaven Plateau)이었습니다. 이곳은 라오스에서도 손꼽히는 커피 생산지로, 아름다운 폭포와 함께 대규모 커피 농장 등이 펼쳐져 있습니다. 우리는 타드 팡(Tad Fane) 폭포를 가장 먼저 방문했습니다.
타드 팡은 높이 120m의 쌍둥이 폭포로, 두 개의 물줄기가 거대한 협곡으로 떨어지는 장관을 볼 수 있넜습니다. 종구튜브는 이곳을 보며 “이건 꼭 영상으로 남겨야겠다“며 드론까지 띄웠습니다.
그렇게 폭포 2곳을 더 감상한 뒤, 근처의 커피 농장을 방문했습니다. 현지 농부로부터 직접 커피 재배 체험을 하면서 그 재배 등의 과정을 들을 수 있었는데요, 볼라벤 고원의 커피는 높은 고도와 비옥한 토양 덕분에 깊고 풍부한 맛을 자랑하는 등의 설명과 함께,
종구튜브와 우리는 신선한 커피 한 잔을 마시며, 이곳의 풍경을 감상했습니다. 물론 저는 아이스크림을 먹었지만“, 이 커피 맛은 정말 잊을 수 없겠네!”라며 감탄하는 종구튜브의 모습을 보니, 저도 뿌듯했습니다.
4. Pakse City Tour : A small city center where you can feel the European atmosphere
The next day we headed to Pakse. Pakse was once the seat of the governor-general of neighboring Cambodia and Vietnam, Laos, during the French colonial period, and was the center of southern Laos, so it is an attractive city center with a European atmosphere and peaceful scenery.
We had the opportunity to experience traditional food with the locals, and we had the opportunity to learn and make Lao signature dishes such as Larb and Tam Mak Hung (papaya salad) in a local home.
Jonggu Tube was worried that he wasn’t confident in his cooking, but surprisingly, he finished a great dish that was praised by everyone, and I, who has a picky taste, tried chopsticks a little, and I was fully satisfied.
We also couldn’t miss the wet market in Pakse, which is surprising for its size, and is a popular spot for travelers who sell a variety of everyday items such as fresh produce, handicrafts and local snacks.
Jonggu tube and I had fun walking around the market, interacting with the locals, and tasting various snacks, but Jonggutube was especially fascinated by the coconut pancake and said, “This is really the best!” He praised him continuously.
Then, we crossed the Friendship Bridge nearby, climbed Pusalau with a panoramic view of Pakse, took a photo with the city view and the 12-meter-tall Great Buddha in the background, and continued to look around the city’s representative Wat Luang Temple.
We crossed the Mekong River again by carving boat, visited a traditional handicraft village, and saw the whole process of making silk Lao traditional costume scenes (skirts), and Mrs. Jong-gu spent the last day sitting on a loom and experiencing it firsthand
4. 팍세 씨티투어 : 유럽풍의 분위기를 느낄 수 있는 아담한 도심
다음 날 우리는 팍세로 향했습니다. 팍세는 한때 프랑스식민지 시절, 인접국가인 캄보디아와 베트남 라오스의 총독부가 있었던 곳으로, 라오스 남부의 중심지였던 곳인만큼, 유럽픙의 분위기와 평화로운 풍경이 매력적인 도심입니다.
이곳에서는 현지 주민들과 함께 전통 음식을 체험할 기회가 있었는데, 우리는 현지 가정집에서 라오스의 대표 요리인 라프(Larb)와 땀막훙(파파야 샐러드)을 직접 배워서 만들 수 있는 체험을 할 수 있었습니다.
종구튜브는 요리에 자신이 없다며 걱정했지만, 의외로 결론은 모두에게 칭찬을 받을 정도로 훌륭한 요리를 완성했는데, 입맛이 까다로운 제가 살짝 젓가락질을 해 봤는데, 충분히 만족할 수 있었습니다.
또한 팍세의 재래시장도 빼놓을 수 없었는데, 그 크기에 놀랄만할 다오허앙 시장(Dao Heuang Market)은 신선한 농산물, 수공예품, 현지 간식 등 다양한 일상생활물품 등을 판매하고 있는 여행자들에게 인기 있는 장소랍니다.
특히 종구튜브와 저는 시장을 돌아다니며 현지인들과 소통하고, 다양한 간식을 맛보며 즐거웠는데, 종구튜브는 특히 코코넛 팬케이크에 푹 빠져 “이건 정말 최고다!”라며 연신 칭찬을 아끼지 않았습니다.
그리고 인근에 우정의 다리를 건너, 팍세를 한눈에 내려다 볼 수 있는 푸살라우에 올라, 도심전경과 12미터의 대불상을 배경으로 인증샷을 남기고, 계속해서 시내 대표적인 왓루앙 사원을 둘러보고는
다시 메콩강을 조각배를 타고 건너, 전통 수공예 마을을 방문하여, 실크로 된 라오스전통의상 씬(치마) 등을 만드는 전 과정을 볼 수 있었는데, 종구 아주머니는 직접 베틀에 앉아 직접 체험해 보기도 하면서, 마지막 일정을 보냈습니다.
5. End of the trip
We had a relaxing time on a small boat ride along the Mekong River, and on the way back, we were able to look back on this 4-day, 3-night trip with many stories in the background of the simple but beautiful scenery of Pakse and Champa.
Jonggutube said, “This trip was really an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the Kyun-s family, I was able to understand Laos more deeply!” He thanked them. I was also with Jonggu Tube, so it was even more special.
However, the regrettable thing is that I should have gone along Sifandon (Saton Gae Island) on the Mekong River, which can be said to be the highlight of the southern Laos trip, but I couldn’t skip school, so I decided to be satisfied with the jonggu tube later.
Laos is a place where you can feel nature and culture as there are not many tourists yet, especially Pakse and Champasak are places with a small charm and calm touch, so I would definitely recommend them if you were traveling to Laos.

5. 여행의 마무리
우리는 메콩강을 따라 작은 보트를 타고, 여유로운 시간을 보내고 돌아오는 길, 팍세와 참파의 소박하지만 아름다운 풍경을 배경으로 많은 이야기를 나누며, 이번 3박4일간의 여행을 되돌아볼 수 있었습니다.
그렇게 종구튜브는 “이번 여행은 정말 잊을 수 없는 경험이었어. 큔에스 패밀리 덕분에 라오스를 더 깊이 이해할 수 있었어!”라며 고마움을 전했습니다. 저 또한 종구튜브와 함께 라서 더욱 특별한 시간이었습니다.
다만, 아쉬운 것은, 라오스남부여행의 하일 라이트라고 할 수 있는 메콩강 위의 시판돈(사턴개의 섬)을 따라 갔어 야 했는데, 학교를 빠질 수가 없어서, 나중에 종구튜브로 대신하기로 하는 것으로 만족하기로 했습니다.
라오스는 아직 관광객이 많지 않아 자연과 문화를 고스란히 느낄 수 있는 곳으로, 그 중에서도 특히 팍세와 참파삭은 소소한 매력과 잔잔한 감동을 지닌 지역으로, 라오스여행을 하신다면 꼭 추천 드리고 싶은 곳입니다.
