In the same week, Tourism EXPO Japan 2026 was held at Tokyo Big Sight on September 24~27, and the World Travel Authority (WTA) Asia, Oceania, and Indian Ocean awards ceremony took place in the Maldives on September 27. Five airlines—American, United, Delta, JetBlue, and Southwest—have announced waivers on change fees and fare differences, covering 7~16 airports respectively. A month’s worth of rainfall is forecast for Boston and Providence, with a 44-mph tailwind in New York and gusts of 40 mph in Boston.
During the same period, shortly after hundreds of flights were canceled due to a communication outage in Newark, Philadelphia, and New York on September 21, the eastern U.S. struggled to normalize throughout the week.
