on the border between life and death

What a beautiful world it is!
walk to the sky....

Part 1
Like clouds moving in the wind.

Day37, on the border between life and death

Today, I went from Pakcarding to Paksan,
25 kilometers by cultivator and 20 kilometers on foot.

I was trudging off on the road today.
Compared to the previous mountain roads, the national highway was filled with
the smell of people, and in the view of the roadside, houses and houses were
huddled together, and people were not unusual.

As I walked, I saw people chattering in
front of the town, and I could feel the atmosphere of a banquet house, so I
walked diligently, thinking of a pleasant thought, hoping to stop by for a
while and fill my greasy stomach.

However, when I arrived in front of the
house, I saw that it was not a banquet house, but a portrait house. But I
couldn’t afford to eat hot and cold rice to fill my stomach, so I snuck into
the house, sat down in the corner of the yard,

I was able to shamelessly take a prize and
enjoy a cup of it while expressing my condolences. Of course, I didn’t forget
to ask the owner for forgiveness. Then I couldn’t help but ask questions,

Above all, the atmosphere was filled with
laughter rather than mourning for the deceased, and I was bewildered and had no
choice but to look for answers. It is the fact that the people of Laos do not
fear or mourn death,

It was because I was there, in a field that
was clearly being proven. First of all, today’s protagonist is said to have
died in an unfortunate motorcycle accident last night, and the deceased is the head
of a family who is still in the prime of his youth, just over 40 years old.

He left behind five children as a bereaved
family and passed away suddenly. Ironically, only the wife and daughters of the
family had tears stained on their faces, and most of the other relatives

He didn’t show any signs of sadness. Of
course, it is incomprehensible to our common sense, but they have already
learned that the dead do not come back to life just because they are sad, and that
dying means leaving for a better world.

Due to the difference in the way they
believe in the afterlife of religious reincarnation, if the reality is that
they have no choice but to send it anyway, they will prepare alcohol, food, and
even their favorite music so that they can go comfortably, and they will
happily send it to them.

The funeral procedure is to first wash the
deceased, change him into neat clothes, and then put him in a corner of the
living room with his head facing the kitchen, so that he can eat his fill on
the last journey.

 After receiving condolences and condolences
from neighbors and relatives for a day, they were admitted to the crematorium
on the outskirts of the village, and the next day they were taken to the
crematorium on the outskirts of the village, accompanied by the sound of soft
music, and a splendid gift to mark their last love, thus settling all ties with
the world.

What is unusual is that as the bonus goes
out, the resident gives the mourners in the name of the deceased, sweets to the
children, and a little money to the adults, and gives the last remaining
acknowledgment, and then leaves without anything “

After saying a final goodbye to this world
and disappearing into the flames, the next day, the only handful of remains are
recovered by the family and placed in the ossuary tower prepared by the
bereaved family at the village temple.

On the ossuary tower, rather than an
inscription, a photograph of the deceased is attached, and the deceased are
remembered with love forever and pray for the king’s paradise, and on the 49th
day, the bereaved family members gather at the temple again, and the last
ceremony is to hold the last sacrifice.

I was able to get a glimpse of the funeral
culture that is very similar to the Korea I know. However, after the funeral,
the family will no longer erase all regular memories of the deceased’s
individual rituals, and that is only until they are together.

 With
the realistic idea of faith that if we are not together, our relationship in
this world is over, and until we meet again in the next world, we don’t need to
dwell on the rest of the world, according to the teachings of Sakya, “What
is not visible is empty, and if you take it, it is hell.”

“If you let go of enlightenment, you
will attain nirvana,” said the Lao people. Living and Loving While
respecting their realistic and rational understanding of life and death, Here,
for once, about the lives that have been squirmed by themselves,

You may be wondering, “Isn’t it okay
to make extreme choices for yourself, and maybe it’s wise to just die, the
skepticism of life?” It will be. But they are clear that when it comes to cutting
themselves off from a given time in this world,

It was clearly said that “it is the greatest
sin of man to challenge the realm of the gods”, and even though life and
death are the limits of human beings created by the gods, it is inconceivable
and impossible for humans to control them, much less cut them off.

The gods have given human beings time in
this world from the long past, according to the karma they have created in the
previous world, and in that they are free to choose their own lives, love and
hate, etc., so that the wrongs and inadequacies in the world are

Since we have made it possible to carry all
our karma and carry it to the next world, we must do our best on the premise of
love, shun evil, do good, be content with small things, accumulate merit in
sharing, and extinguish our karma more beautifully.

Only then can we go to a better world full
of love, and the most important thing here is that we can take nothing with us,
but we can only keep everything we love in our souls in the bonds of bondage.

If, through an extreme choice, one gives up
even this immortal love, only to be quickly freed from the anguish and
suffering of this world, it is the greatest sin that a human being should not
commit, abandoning the universe and the membership of nature.

 For the transgression of transgression
against the laws of Heaven and the providence of nature, and for the great folly
of human beings who bring about another karma, they will fall into the hell of
hells, which is more difficult and terrible than this world.

I believed in the reincarnation of good and
evil. In the end, no matter how much hardship and suffering a given reality
entail, the idea of leaving without fulfilling one’s responsibilities and
obligations in this world according to one’s own karma is a taboo among human
taboos that can never be tolerated for any reason.

Just as clothes become old and must be
replaced with new ones, death is a pilgrim of the soul like a ritual of the
soul who goes in search of a new body, in the process of being forced to go to
the next world according to the purity of the life that has been lived.

For them, death was not an end, but a new beginning. In the midst of seeing off the dead, I somehow realized that I knew about death, whether it was religious karma and reincarnation, the power of the omniscient and omnipotent Absolute, or scientific Darwin’s “theory of evolution (origin of species)”.

From the creation of the heavens and the earth shrouded in a veil to me as a mere dust of the universe and nature, I once again thought about the mysterious origin of life and death, and speculated and summarized my theory of reincarnation, but who am I?

What I am, what it means to live in an unresolved mess, my life itself is uncertain and uncertain, but one thing is for sure, I believe that I exist now, and that my soul is eternal.

Satisfied with returning to the place where I was at the beginning, reaffirming that I can only be a human being, I must do my best in the time I have been given, and I am reminded of the realistic and rational way of life and death of the Lao people who live and love.

Gently respecting them, they can humbly accept that they have no choice about life and death, which is inherently human, and they try to capture in their memories the all-too-human love and truths that are all too human.

I had been sipping Lao ao (Lao shochu) for hours already, and before I knew it, the middle of the day was over, and I was grateful for the “impermanence of life” in the glass of wine offered by the deceased, and I had no choice but to stop using my chopsticks and stand up.

However, I was a little worried about the way I walked, and I wanted to just indulge in alcohol and spend the day here, but if I made a small mistake because I was drunk for the first time in a long time, it would be better than the good image I had so far.

I was worried that I would become a drunkard outsider, and I had no choice but to stand up, telling myself that this was no longer the place for me to stay. Just as when I came, when I went, I crept out of the door of the mall.

It just so happened that one of the mourners who had been learning the day for a while, a lucky tiller from a neighboring village, was starting up, and he gladly asked to accompany him, and with his pleasant consent, he climbed into the luggage car, and fortunately he did not stumble and made his way to the next village, where he “walked to the sky” again.

As I walked on the road I was on, trying to shake off the haze of dust that had accumulated all over my body like a mere plight, to the twitching of the tiller, I was contemplating the meaning of the dreary boundary between life and death that I happened to encounter on the road.
