As August marks the start of the global summer vacation season, the week is designed to be a more relaxed trip focused on “exploring one city” rather than a “tiring schedule” for short-term getaways and healing. While May-type trips focused on flowers, spring, and museums, June trips focused on long days, outdoor festivals, early summer food, and nighttime walks. In July, with more safety, great walking experience, and efficient local stays, the upcoming August will focus on healing events that combine summer retreats. Having recommended six places in total, now I will introduce the fifth and sixth locations.

In early July, the European Parliament confirmed the strengthening of air passengers’ rights, and this issue continued to be a key topic for summer travel in Europe this week. While maintaining the principle of compensation for delays of more than three hours, practical improvements included displaying fares including carry-on baggage, assigning family seats close to each other, prohibiting the cancellation of return flights for missing the first segment of a round-trip ticket, and implementing automatic refunds and streamlined billing procedures. For travelers traveling to and from Europe, this is a significant change that feels quite significant.

[European Parliament]
The U.S. summer travel spending pattern was highly symbolic this week as well. According to the AP, many travelers are cutting costs by taking short-distance trips, road trips, short itineraries, and cooking for themselves instead of dining out instead of going abroad. AAA estimated 72.2 million travelers around Independence Day, and while the numbers are high, the key point is that consumption habits have become more cautious. Travel continues, but budgets and ways of staying have changed.

[AP News]
Major airlines are even more aggressive this summer in expanding premium seats than economy seats. Delta plans to have nearly half of its cabins in premium seats on its next-generation A350-1000, and American Airlines has announced plans to expand premium cabin offerings by 50% by the end of 2010. At the same time, split benefits like ‘base premium fares’ will increase, so travelers will face an era where business and premium economy include different services more frequently.

[AP News]
One notable trend in the travel industry this week is that food has fully risen as the core motivation for travel, rather than “food = additional option.” Kensington Tours has expanded its European culinary journey connecting Greece, Croatia, Portugal, and Morocco, highlighting local home-style cuisine, wineries, spice markets, and traditional cultural experiences. This trend, which combines festivals, food, and cultural experiences, has the potential to spread even more strongly to products like farm stay-type travel, local food schools, and village-based slow tours.

[Travel Weekly]
### A Quick Look at Kyun-S Weekly Inside
In short, the global travel market for the third week of July 2026 was “a market where demand is alive but cannot be blindly optimistic like before.” Mega events like the World Cup showed significant differences by city, U.S. back bound was weak, airlines were more expensive and stratified, and conversely, changes favorable to travelers were clearly observed, such as strengthening passenger rights in Europe and expanding gourmet and experiential travel.
