As August marks the start of the global summer vacation season, the week is designed to be a more relaxed trip focused on “exploring one city” rather than a “tiring schedule” for short-term getaways and healing. While May-type trips focused on flowers, spring, and museums, June trips focused on long days, outdoor festivals, early summer food, and nighttime walks. In July, with more safety, great walking experience, and efficient local stays, the upcoming August will focus on healing events that combine summer retreats. Having recommended six places in total, now I will introduce the third and fourth spots.

On July 10, Saudi Arabia announced that the Package Visa is a system that allows eligible travelers to book visas, round-trip tickets, accommodations, and insurance all in one package. Currently, the eligibility is for nationals of Jordan, Egypt, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Mexico, and Pakistan. If you apply through an approved company, processing can be done within up to 48 hours, with a 2~88-day schedule, and a 3-month single-user license is valid. From the perspective of tourist destinations, it is drawing attention as an expansion experiment in Middle East tourism aimed at reducing cancellations and lowering preparation fatigue for travelers.

5> International rail is expanding again as a short-haul alternative to Europe
On July 9, Dutch railway company Arriva announced plans to launch a new direct international railway connecting Utrecht and The Hague to Brussels and Paris starting in 2028. The main routes are to Paris via Am sport/Utrecht/Breda/Antwerp/Brussels Airport/Brussels South/Mons, and the same axis from The Hague/Rotterdam/Rosendal. Although there is still time before implementation, the overall picture of European travel clearly shows a trend of expanding networks that allow rail to replace short-haul flights.

The travel industry is responding accordingly with expanded shoulder seasons, digital visas, facial recognition airports, international rail, and destination redevelopment.
