What a beautiful world it is!
walk to the sky....
Part 3 Under the Burning Sun!
On the 93rd day of my solo trip to Laos, now, just like that feeling
Today, I walked 20 km from Donchai to Nantong.
As I trudged around Laos, I gradually spent more time chatting, rolling around, sleeping together, and eating with the people of the mountain villages, and I could see that I was gradually becoming increasingly rural, escaping from the boring city life.
When it came to eating, I experienced a variety of meals that I could not usually eat, such as frog stew, vole barbecue, ant bite and snake soup, and on lucky days, wild badgers, wild boars, and brown bears, which can only be tasted in Laos.
Looking at the general dining culture in Laos, in most small and medium-sized cities and above, women tend to be on the front lines of socio-economic activities rather than men, so most household chores, such as kitchen work, should be handled by husbands or other family members.
If possible, they only cook at home and often buy side dishes at nearby markets and set up a table, and of course, there are many people who make their own side dishes, but there are also many households that generally rely on purchasing them at side dish shops.
Therefore, in the surrounding markets, you can always see a lot of people making and selling various side dishes. However, mountain villages do not have a smooth connection with the outside world, so other economic activities are inevitably limited.
As a result, most of them used their own rice fields and gardens close to their homes, and under the principle that the whole family had to cultivate and harvest basic rice and humus themselves, everyone had no choice but to participate in cooking and making side dishes.
In this way, self-sufficiency in all diets is a matter of course, so what about the intake of insufficient protein and calcium? You can’t help but wonder. However, the answer was surprisingly simple and clear.
This is because they were covered by fish fishing in nearby rivers and valleys and hunting animals in the forest. Of course, we raise livestock such as cows, pigs, and chickens, but these are part of the emergency fund or property increase.
Instead, if you happen to catch a bear, wild boar, deer, etc., under the current law of Laos, which is to protect wild animals, it is against the law to sell it whole, so meat and skins, etc.
They cut each part and sell all the parts that can make money, and only then do they take out the intestines that are difficult to sell and eat them themselves. Thanks to this, I was able to get a hunchback from time to time, but it wasn’t a menu that I usually came across.
At first, I was hesitant because it was not so easy to eat these things, but as a poor solo traveler who couldn’t afford to cover cold or hot rice, I found that it was edible and tasted good, and now I have no choice but to eat anything naturally.
To be honest, I can’t deny that I can feel that I’m getting used to life in the mountains little by little, to the extent that I can’t eat because I don’t give it to you, or I can’t eat because I don’t have it. Of course, you can’t just get it and sleep for free.
If he had time, he would go out to the fields, turn over the soil, sow seeds, burn rice straw, sprinkle them instead of fertilizer, and water them in the morning and evening.
Also, most of all, over time, I could enjoy just the feeling that everything was mysterious and natural, such as the truth in the soil, the meaning of the forest, the providence of heaven, and the principle of water, but if I were to live in the forest one day,
Assuming that I might need such things, I thought that this was also a part of me traveling, so I thought that I was daring to enjoy it. However, as someone who has never farmed or hunted,
It was so clumsy that it made the viewers laugh, but it wasn’t enough, and it was also unbelievable that they were doing all the work alone, and that they were showing a lot of clumsiness, such as blisters and bleeding on their hands.
But if I could live in the mountains in the future, wouldn’t it? With a vague idea that the most basic things to become an opportunity are learned, it is true that I will do my best with all my might, so even the smallest wounds are insignificant, and I even treat them as if they were medals.
Since the hermitage in the forest, which they live in seclusion in the forest, farming, cultivating vegetables, hunting, and digging for herbs, is based on the principle of self-sufficiency, their basic way of life is a natural and essential thing of mountain life.
Perhaps because of the urgency to live, it was clear that everyone naturally could not neglect to learn and master hard and do their best. Now that there is a world where there are no winners and losers, and there are only peace and freedom, the times as they are with me,
Nothing frees itself from vain desires and luxuries, does not demand any more waste, and realizes that only humility and frugality can always sustain oneself. The sky, the wind, the clouds, the mountains, the valleys, the forests, and even me, who is clearly a member of them…
Everyone could feel the communal meaning of such an inevitable relationship. Yes! In the face of the natural law of mutual assistance, he was silently teaching me that we should never be arrogant, make a small mistake from a small satisfaction, and be considerate of each other’s happiness.
Perhaps what I am walking today is the purity and mystery of nature that I have felt for a while. Based on the experience gained from traveling to remote areas of the world in business, they made a vivid commitment to their day in the forest in earnest, forever.
In the most realistic nature of my life unfolding in front of me, as a member of nature, perhaps even today, I am intoxicated by each feeling, learning small satisfactions, and walking in search of a new world where I can stay! I just wanted to.
