day 15, a toast to “Walk to the Sky”

 It had already been 10 days in Savannahkep.
It wasn’t perfect, but the problem with the soles of my feet was resolved to
the point where I didn’t have any problems walking, and all the 13 planned
travelogues were sorted out, so I added two more episodes to finish the 15th
episode with more time.

 The donations came in more than I expected,
and I thought that being in the mountains would be enough to last me for a few
months. Now I think I’ll have to go out again tomorrow, so to wrap up my last
day in Savannakep, I thought I’d take a look at the Savannahkep that I haven’t
been able to see yet.

 Early on, I was busy asking a sad farewell to the PC café that had been filled with gratitude for a long time, and going out into the street to  pay for the two-ri-burn-du-ri-bun chont-tee. Savannakhep is located in south-central Laos, the capital of Savannakhep Province, one of the five largest cities in Laos.

 It is a representative city on the Mekong River along the Mekong River along with Thakem, the capital of Camuun Province, which is about 150 kilometers away, and is said to be the most industrially developed city in Laos with a population of about 300,000, and the reason for this is that the Lao government has long ago designated Saba Makeng as a special economic zone in Laos.

 This is because it is a place that exempts or relaxes various permit conditions and taxes, builds basic infrastructure, provides conveniences, and spurs the attraction of foreign companies. As a result, it seemed to be a place where you could get a vivid glimpse of a more vibrant city than any other provincial city.

 However, there wasn’t much to see and do for tourists, especially the history and cultural contents, so there wasn’t much to hold onto, so  I couldn’t overdo it considering the incomplete situation on the soles of my feet, so I looked around in moderation.

 I decided to regroup while preparing supplies such as emergency food that had run out, and I decided to buy the minimum necessities I needed during my trip, but suddenly I thought that the most urgent thing was a map of Laos, so I went to the bookstore to ask  for it.

 Above all, I tried to buy a map with a well-marked map of the national roads, but after all, my imagination was free, my dreams were exhausted, and all of them were tourist maps, and I didn’t really need the map I needed. But he couldn’t just turn around and get out, because he felt like he had to take a stand.

 I picked up a tourist map written in Chinese and English that seemed to have been made for Chinese tourists, took a moment to find a well-decorated upscale café nearby, sat down next to  an air-conditioned shop window, and ordered a glass of iced Americano  with a large sum of money.

 As if to get in the form of a tourist, I spread out a map of Laos and enjoyed the operation time around the country with the strong aroma of coffee. There was no one waiting  anyway, and there was nothing to do, so I didn’t feel the need to go  to the capital city of Vientiane soon.

 At this point, I’m  done exploring Laos and letting my imagination run wild in the afterglow of Savannakep for a full-fledged trip to Laos, but for some reason, after about  a month since I left Attaphu, I realized that the concept of a city wasn’t so welcome.

 Was he in a hurry to escape the wary gaze of a tourist anymore? Gather information about your surroundings and think about a new travel route. Anyway, the only thing left is time,  so explore the remote areas of Laos, find the hidden lives of ethnic minorities,

 After examining their unique culture and disconnected customs, I concluded that it would be a good idea to summarize “Walk to the Sky” as a unique travelogue, and that there are still many Lao Tung and Lao Sung among the ethnic minorities in Laos.

 We decided to take a route up the Annam Mountains to the north. According to the information, the Annam Mountains stretch for more than 1.100 kilometers from north to south near the border with Vietnam, east of Laos, and are extensively extended to the alpine areas at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters.

 In fact, the highest peak in Laos is located at 3,000 meters above sea level, which is higher than Mt. Paektu as well as Mt. Jirisan and Hallasan in Korea, and the villages of Laos are located like natural fortresses in the surrounding mountains.

 It is said that it is an area where ethnic minorities who live in isolation from the outside world and protect their own territory are distributed. Then I’m going to go from Savannakek here  to the westernmost tip of the south-central south, in front of the Vietnam border, to Seppon.

 From there, we turned left and climbed north up the Lao Annam Mountains, where we felt  closer to the mountains and forests, and experienced a full-fledged backcountry exploration  and a glimpse into the way they actually lived in their own territory.

 As I emptied my cup of coffee for the last sip of coffee, I made up my mind, and my footsteps were much more relaxed, and I was enjoying the pleasures of a leisurely tour of the city while enjoying some eye candy at a nearby wet market.

 As a result, there was one thing that caught my eye: a lantern that I had forgotten about even though I had suffered so much. Day after day, when the sun went down, my eyes and feet were tired of wandering in the dark.

 In Laos, not only in remote remote areas where  the electricity  situation is not very good, but even in the city, the lantern was an absolute necessity at night, but due to the situation in my pocket, I could not prepare even one of those common lanterns,  and I had to go through a lot of trouble to buy them  .

 I thought about how stupidly I had forgotten, so I decided to put everything aside and buy a lantern first, and set out to choose. And it’s not like it’s been a while, so I picked and chose only a charging lantern that has a decent price and performance, regardless of size,

 I spent a long time shaving and mowing a penny on the lantern, and I decided that it was a good value for money, but I can’t help but feel sorry for it, even though I was a guest.

 He couldn’t just pass off all the foreigners as disgusting wholesalers, so he didn’t forget to appease the host, adding that he was sorry for the unmatched flirtation. And for now, tomorrow I will only go to Seno, which is  20 km  from here.

 I tried to pack other things and listened closely to Seno’s information gathering, but contrary to my expectations, I realized that Savannakhet was not a transportation hub in south-central Laos, but the actual hub was Senno.

 Savannakhet where I am now is located on the banks of the Mekong River, about 20 kilometers from Seno along the national highway, so it is  not Savannakhet that you can just stop by while traveling between  the north and south of Laos, but if you don’t have anything to do, you don’t go in and pass by Seno.

 Therefore, if travelers are going to Savatakhek as a stopover or taking a bus to Pakse or other south-bound buses to Sabatakhek as their destination, they should definitely make sure they stop at the Savannakek city terminal before boarding.

 If you don’t, you should be aware that some buses don’t go into downtown Savannakop, but just pass through Seno, in which case you’ll have to get off at Seno and take other transportation to get into town.

 So, if you go south, you can go through Rak 35, which I passed, to Pakse and Cambodia, and if you go up north, you can go up through Thakek, through the capital, Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and then to jinhong and Kunming, China.

 Heading straight east, it connected to Dong Ha and Da Nang in central Vietnam, via the border town of Seppon, and then turned west through Savannakekp and across the Mekong River to Mokdahan, a region in Thailand.

 So tomorrow I decided to leave the city and go to Seno, which is located along the national highway, but based on the information I got from the ears, I found out that even though Seno is a satellite town of Savannakep, all the living areas are the same as Savannakep.

 In particular, due to its geographical location in Seno, distribution and traditional markets are active, and there is no shortage of daily necessities to be purchased there. If he could reduce the weight of the 20 kilometers by any amount, it would be a nagging thought.

 I decided to buy all the necessities for the trip, such as some emergency food and household medicines that could be stored for a long time and put it off to Seno. And from here to Sepon via Sepon, it’s about 250 kilometers, so it’s not a very easy distance that it would take about a week to walk.

 I had to brace myself and brace myself, but for my last savannah sakep dinner, I sat at a market stall under the pretext of supplementing my nutrition, ate barbecued pork with chopsticks, and toasted myself with a cup of Lao Lao, a Lao Lao soju, before heading back to my accommodation.

 Then, before going to bed,  I thought carefully about how I should organize my travel memos more substantially in order to  “walk to the sky” in the future, relying solely on notebook notes, considering that I don’t have essential equipment such as a camera or laptop.

 Enjoying the feeling of satiety filled with other people’s flesh for the first time in a long time, I counted the stars in the night sky in the leisurely leisure of the last savannah and  prayed for good luck on the morning of the countdown march to find my lost self and talk to nature.
