Day 3 of my Laos trip. Thank you so much, Aunt.

What a beautiful world it is!
walk to the sky....

Part 1
Like clouds moving in the wind.

<On the third day, thank you so much !>

Fleeing the  temple without washing his face, he trudged through the darkness and on the  asphalt  when his  eyes met  the churrera drivers who happened to be huddled together among the long rows  of timber trucks.

After staying overnight on the side  of the road last night, I felt like I was  brewing coffee and green tea to soothe the chilly morning air, but thankfully, he offered me a  welcome favor  to have a cup of tea as well. Even if I didn’t, my throat was curly, and there was no reason to refuse a fragrant morning coffee.

He was going to beg, so he quickly confiscated his face and intervened. I thought he was crazy because he was traveling all over Laos on foot, but he said it was amazing, and he even squeezed a bottle of coffee full of water for me to eat as I went.

I was so grateful  that there were more than 10 large churrera filled with beautiful teak logs that were more than 1 meter in diameter and 10 meters in length.  When I asked,  he told me that they were logs that had been cut nearby a few days ago  and transported to Pakse.

One article said that there are  still many such huge teak and other timbers growing in this area, and that they are often sold to the United States and Europe after being felled.

After a while, I politely put down my coffee cup and hurried on my way, and it was so dense that it could be described as a jungle rather than a forest on both sides of the road, and I was able to witness actual logging sites in several places along the way.

In fact, most of the Lao economy depends on imports and aid without exports, and I knew that solid wood  was one of the few filial exports,  and Lao wood in particular is said to be used  for high-end furniture and interior decoration because of its good pattern and color.

While most countries in Southeast Asia  prohibit logging to preserve the natural environment, Laos is the only country that allows logging, processing, and export.Of course, it is monitored by the United Nations Environment Agency, but it is allowed on the condition that the amount (quota) is set every year and as much as the trees are felled.

As such, Laos has a beautiful natural environment with 70% of its land area made up of mountains and valleys, and the population density is low compared to the country, proving that the ecological environment is well preserved.

I didn’t feel lucky    to  be traveling to such a beautiful country, so maybe something good would happen today. With a vague sense of anticipation, with a  pleasant premonition, I carved a lighter step on the road

As 10 a.m. passed, the churrera of mixed coffee that I  had met in the early hours of the morning   roared and a long line passed by on the road, and the drivers  all kept waking   up their windows  , pretending to know  each other, and cheering them on, saying “sokdi” (good luck).

I , too, waved my hand in gratitude and smiled proudly, as if I had done something big. And even though it had been a long time since I had heard the sound of the engine, I couldn’t shake the cheer for a while and was able to walk hard.

As the day wore on, the  sun was scorching  down, but the headwinds of the dense forest were enough to cool the sweaty footsteps, and the pace was still average. However, in the  afternoon, when we passed about 21 kilometers, I had a vague expectation that I could not endure starving myself for a whole day.

To make matters worse, the fatigue continued to accumulate, and now my steps  began to feel  quite heavy. That was then. A violent downpour of rain, perhaps the first test of heaven, came upon us, and with no shelter to  speak of, we were like drowning rats.

Still, up until that point, I was in a hurry to take a  shower with my clothes on, so I thought it was nice to be cool right now. After a while, the weight of the rain-drenched monologue slowly begins to dig into his shoulders, The pain is too  much to bear.

I desperately wanted to sit there. However, the  setting sun had already sat on the crest of the western mountain, making fun of me, and I couldn’t help but feel sad. Just in time, a motorcycle that had not been called  over hit and  returned.

Judging from the way she dressed, she looked like she had  just passed twenty years old, and she was a pale old lady, and she felt sorry for me in the rain, and she really  felt sorry for me, even though she was already carrying her 2~3 year old daughter on a small auto rock.

On the day I was carrying an 80-kilogram back and a backpack, I was allowed to squeeze into a cramped seat. I thought it was a little harsh too, but as the  situation was, if it was a mess, a motorcycle with a child in it would pass by, and then come back and give me a ride.

“I don’t know,” I had no choice but to get on. For some time, I’m hanging on the back of a motorcycle like that. I could sense that two unknown motorcycles were chasing me. When I turned around, I saw that there were four men on the motorcycle, two of them each .

Before we knew it, he was rushing at us and blocking the front and back of our motorcycle. “What? Looking closely, I saw that one of them was wearing a blue uniform and a long gun slung over his shoulder, and I couldn’t help but get nervous.

However, from the looks of it, it seemed that the  aunt and the child were well acquainted, so I kept quiet for the time being. One of them approached me and stood there, talking to me with a lot of wariness, “Where are you going?” The lady said bluntly, “It doesn’t matter where you go!” He said,

Instead of answering again, he pointed at me and asked, “Who is that?” When I asked, the old lady was also nervous, and said, “I’m meddling,” adding, “I’m a passing tourist, but I’m going in the rain, so  I’m taking you to the village below.”

He said he spoke Lao  and wanted to say something to her for a while, but judging from the expressions on people’s faces, it would be better to ignore him for now, so he just watched,   looking at both sides of his eyes carefully.

Luckily,  we ended the story without further comment, and immediately the two motorcycles went back the way they came, and our motorcycle  went back on its way. I couldn’t help but wonder, but  when I insinuated to her, “Who are you?” she smiled and said, “My husband.”

No, but why? When I asked her again  if she had done   that, she said, “A while ago, my husband and I had a  marital quarrel  and  ran away from home to my parents’ house in the upper village.”

I wanted to tell my husband that I was running away with a foreigner, and even if I didn’t, my husband  was very angry and wanted to go to me, so he chased me with wild games.” No, what are these surprises! I couldn’t help but feel embarrassed,

When I  saw the village, I thought, “Oh, this old lady! I’m going to drop you off here~” and then I said to myself, “Wow~ I couldn’t even hold the hand of an aunt whose name I didn’t even know, let alone travel to Laos, and I almost got beaten to death because I became a flirtatious lover in my sleep.”

No matter how hard it was, he didn’t have the courage to ride any further. A moment later, the motorcycles had all traveled about 10 kilometers and had come to  a stop at  the edge of a small village, and  I waved “thank you so much” and turned around.

Then,  for a moment, he  stood on the spot  and  looked at the back of the old lady who was walking away, and let out  a long sigh of relief, “Phew~”, and finally realized  that it was a drowning mouse, and said, “Oh!Even though I’m  in the mountains today, I’ve made it all the way to the Dragon Palace!”

Also, compared to walking, it was as if I had flown in a plane for a short time, as if I was dreaming of going back and forth between heaven and hell all the way to the doorstep. Anyway, I was able to avoid any more rain and drop off in front of a beautiful waterfall along the river, so I was very grateful.

The waterfall behind the rain was spectacular, and  as I entered the path, a picturesque bungalow and restaurant awaited me next to the waterfall, perfect for ending the day with a lighter grip on hunger and pain.

Finally, after two days of fried rice and before falling asleep with the feeling of satiety on the bed, I suddenly thought, “Did you have the spirit to give me a ride while I was fighting with my husband and wife and  taking my child to my parents’ house? The young lady and I said, “You know a few Lao words.

What would I have done if  I had intervened in a marital quarrel at someone else’s house? What would have happened if they had rushed in at you?” Imagining those faces that looked like yours, I could only laugh to myself.

At the same time, I was worried about myself, but how would I change after I ran out of money? After all, I was just trying to imagine it, but I was just wondering what I was believing in.

The bottom line is Eh!  I don’t know. Be as good as you can, go as far as you can, sleep today, ”  Tomorrow the sun will rise, tomorrow the sun will rise, tomorrow I will go tomorrow if I don’t worry about tomorrow…”
