Day 64 of my solo trip to Laos, When the bell rings in the dark. (3)&(4)
Suddenly, I remembered my military service days a long time ago. I felt like I had really demonstrated superhuman tenacity and perseverance, and I couldn’t help but be surprised that I still had this kind of strength left. As the saying goes, “Heaven helps those who help themselves,” luck continues,
Unexpectedly, a bus heading to Fukun was coming at dawn. I was so happy that I quickly raised my hands and stopped the bus. I finally soothed my tired body and closed my eyes for a moment without realizing it.
It is still a little over 50 kilometers to Phukun, but due to the high, rugged mountain ridges and high-altitude roads, the bus traveled for about two hours and arrived in Phukun after 8 a.m. Rubbing his dozing eyes
By now, imagining the recalled expressions of the police officers who knew I had run away, and with a slight bitter smile, I got off the bus to decide whether to go to Vientiane or Luang Prabang, saying that this bus only runs here.
First, in order to soothe my hungry stomach and grasp the situation, I went to a nearby restaurant and ordered a bowl of cao phi yao (pho) and sat down. I was so hungry that I ate it like a dog eye and leaned on a chair in one of the restaurants.
To continue traveling to where I had originally planned, I thought I would have to go to Luang Prabang, so I decided to take a break at the restaurant for a while and take a bus in moderation. However, in front of the restaurant, around the bus stop, as many as 7~8 police officers were looking for something, etc.
I could hear foreigners shouting and chattering even inside the restaurant, and when I listened closely, I thought it was a sound that was looking for me. “No, I didn’t commit a major felony, but I went beyond the jurisdiction of the state…”,
I couldn’t help but be surprised that they were looking for me. “I’m surprised to see the lid of the pot that I was surprised to see when I grew up,” and I asked the female waitress at the restaurant. “No, why are there so many police officers coming out from early in the morning?” and asked, “Is this usually the case here?”
Then the female employee said, “It seems that among the travelers coming out of the Ciengguang side, they are looking for some kind of Asian.” I said, “Why? Are you looking for that person?”, and she said, “I don’t know.” Didn’t I think too easily, and breathe a sigh of relief too quickly?
I’m sure they’re looking for me, but if I get caught here, I’ll be punished, and it’s natural that I’ll be punished for a crime that doesn’t exist, and I’m really driven into a pardon that I can’t even take out. First, I moved my seat deep into the restaurant, which I couldn’t see from the outside.
I looked at the sympathy from the outside and brought out all the thoughts I had and what I didn’t think about how to get out of this crisis. However, when I turned the film around like a lantern, there was no sharp countermeasure. However, when I got off the bus a while ago,
I had already met a few police officers, but when I thought about the fact that they didn’t ask me anything and just passed by, I thought that they probably received the passport I presented at the Sieng Quang Police Station as a pex and looked at the photo and looked at the photo and looked at me.
Fortunately, from the appearance of that passport photo, he was a completely different person who was more like a Westerner, such as his black hair and bushy beard, so it was natural to not know.
I felt a little relieved. However, the fact that I was dragging out this time here was that the longer the tail, the more disadvantageous it was for me.
After all, the police officers seem to be only interested in the buses coming out of Siengguang side, so they are wearing Western style, sunglasses, and even a hat anyway, and they are closer to Westerners than Asians, so they naturally exit the bus stop after mixing with other Westerners.
I concluded that it was a method. I immediately packed my backpack, took out a cigarette, put it in my mouth, and went out onto the road to get into a group of Europeans who seemed to be European travelers.
Just then, a large truck passed by, and it even blocked the view of the police officers, so I managed to get out of the bus stop without any problems. Then, for a slight transformation, he took off the outerwear he wore in the cold of the night.
I picked up my pace again and climbed up the steep road towards Luang Prabang. As if they knew my heart, the purple reeds shining in the sun, waving and beckoning to me, were just affectionate.
When I arrived at the Hmong village of Phukun Nai Lan, which was about 4 kilometers away, covered in sweat, I finally found a bean tent on one side of the village, and I stopped sitting down as I relaxed.
The forced march that followed yesterday had exhausted my strength on my last leg, and I could no longer walk. I decided to leave everything to fate, rested here, and then took a bus to Luang Prabang.
However, I was sad about what this looked like, but it really didn’t seem like there was “007 James Bond” or “Indiana Jones”, but on the other hand, it made me smile. Fortunately, I was intoxicated by the beautiful scenery around Fukun, where the clouds were resting, and after about an hour,
I saw the bus I had been waiting for, and I quickly ran onto the road, shouting hurrah, and blocked the bus. As they stopped the bus, grabbed it, and escaped from Pukunai, the desperate escape operation, which was virtually out of breath, was ending with a success.
As soon as I got on the bus, it was also blinking and tightening, but the bus had been running on the mountain road for 5 hours, and without any problems, it was entering Siung Eon at the 25-kilometer point in front of Luang Prabang. But suddenly I remembered the Luang Prabang entrance checkpoint,
Could it be that I have been contacted so far? I felt anxious, so I thought it would be better to get off here on the outskirts of the city, get a day to understand the situation, and then enter Luang Prabang toorrow, rather than going straight into the city.
As if waiting, I saw a neat guesthouse on the side of the road outside the depot, so I hurriedly jumped into the driver’s seat and repeatedly shouted “yuk”, “yuk” (stop), and asked me to stop the bus, which was running without a stop, even though it was not a stop.
I had already passed by the guesthouse, but as if surprised, the driver made a sudden stop, and I hurriedly got off the bus, shouting “Cup Chai Lai Lai” (thank you very much) with a slightly sorry expression. The driver, who didn’t know English, just shook his head,
Soon after, the engine roared up again and walked away from me. I turned around a little and went straight into the guesthouse, and even though the sun was still in mid-sky, lunch was on the back burner, and I couldn’t think of anything anymore, so I just stumbled and fell asleep.
