The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) went into full force with the REAL ID Act on May 7. Alternative IDs such as a REAL ID-compliant ID or passport are now required for domestic flights within the United States. “The REAL ID requirement enhances safety by making fake IDs more difficult and keeping criminals and terrorists at bay,” said Adam Stahl, acting director of the TSA. Individuals without a REAL ID may experience additional screening and boarding delays.
